Hammered copper and sterling silver chainmaille bracelet

$135.00

Only 1 available

This bracelet features fold formed copper squares connected together with sterling silver and bronze rings. The sterling silver rings are linked together in a chainmaille pattern known as the Japanese weave. It has been oxidized and was sealed with Renaissance wax to preserve the finish. This is a very light weight bracelet.

The bracelet measures 1 inch wide and is finished with copper chain and a stainless steel magnetic tube clasp.

My process:

I use no solder in my pieces. I prefer the ancient art of using just heat and hammer to form my pieces. I use cold connections such as riveting or jump rings to connect the metal together.

Foldforming:

The process of fold forming (which creates the folds in my work) uses only heat and hammer. The folds are made by “folding” the piece, hammering it down, and heating it to open it again. The fold forming process is repeated over and over again until I feel the piece is “done”.

Chainmaille:

The art of chainmaille has been around for centuries. I love that I’m continuing an ancient art. Using only pliers, it's amazing what can be created. Chainmaille, when done with precision and care, will last for years.
